CTR is working with a well-established and respected civil infrastructure contractor in Wellington, who is looking to appoint an experienced Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful contractor with a strong reputation in the Wellington market, an established client base and a good pipeline of civil infrastructure projects.

The role offers a genuine mix of estimating and quantity surveying responsibilities, working closely with the wider delivery team from initial tendering and procurement through to project completion.

We are looking for someone who enjoys the commercial side of civil construction, is comfortable working with operational teams and has a practical, hands-on approach to managing project costs.

The Role
Working as part of an experienced commercial team, you will be responsible for:

• Preparing competitive tenders and estimates for civil infrastructure projects, including first-principles pricing.
• Managing procurement, subcontractor negotiations and supplier relationships.
• Providing commercial support across projects, including cost control, forecasting and financial reporting.
• Preparing progress claims, variations and final accounts.
• Working with project managers and site teams to ensure projects are delivered profitably.
• Managing contractual requirements, particularly under NZS 3910.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders.

About You
Ideally, you will have:

• A minimum of 5 years' experience in estimating and/or quantity surveying within the New Zealand civil construction sector.
• A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong experience in civil infrastructure estimating, tendering and project cost management.
• A sound understanding of NZS 3910 contracts.
• Experience with Candy estimating software and digital measurement tools such as Bluebeam.
• Good commercial awareness, strong numerical skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with project and site teams.

Experience working within the Wellington civil infrastructure market would be particularly advantageous.
