A great opportunity for an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career with an established consultancy in Tauranga.
We are working with a well-established New Zealand quantity surveying and cost consultancy that is looking to add a Quantity Surveyor to its growing Tauranga team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the intermediate stage of their career who has built a good grounding in quantity surveying and is now looking for more responsibility, broader project exposure and the opportunity to learn from experienced senior QS professionals.
You'll be joining a friendly, professional team working across a varied portfolio of projects throughout Tauranga, the Bay of Plenty and wider Central North Island.
The Role
You'll be involved across both pre- and post-contract quantity surveying, with your responsibilities developing as your experience and confidence grow.
Your work is likely to include:
- Cost planning and estimating
- Preparing and reviewing tender documentation
- Tender analysis and procurement
- Progress claim assessments
- Variations and cost reporting
- Contract administration
- Forecasting and financial reporting
- Working closely with clients, consultants and contractors
- Supporting senior members of the team on larger and more complex projects
The project mix is varied and can include commercial developments, residential, education, infrastructure, transport and other public and private sector projects, giving you the chance to build a broad base of experience rather than being tied to one particular sector.
About You We're not looking for the finished article.
This role would suit a Quantity Surveyor who has gained a few years of practical experience and is ready for the next stage of their career.
Ideally, you'll have:
- A relevant Quantity Surveying or Construction qualification
- Around 3-6 years' QS experience, although we are flexible for the right person
- Consultancy/PQS experience would be advantageous
- Good understanding of construction costs and commercial processes
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Confidence working with clients and other project stakeholders
- A positive attitude and genuine desire to continue developing professionally
Most importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys being part of a team, takes pride in their work and wants to continue building their QS career.
This is a good opportunity to join a consultancy where you can learn, develop and gradually take on more responsibility, while still having experienced people around you for support.
You'll get exposure to a wide range of projects, work directly with clients and gain experience across the full lifecycle of a project.
And, of course, you'll be doing it from Tauranga, with everything the Bay of Plenty lifestyle has to offer.
If you're currently working as a Quantity Surveyor and feel ready for a fresh challenge, or you'd simply like to understand what the opportunity could look like, I'd be happy to have a confidential chat.
