An excellent opportunity has become available for two Quantity Surveyors to join an established Auckland construction company delivering a varied portfolio of projects across the commercial, education, airport and residential sectors.

With a strong pipeline of work ahead, they are looking to add commercially capable Quantity Surveyors to their team. These opportunities could suit either an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor ready to take more ownership of projects, or an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor looking for a hands-on role within a well-established contractor.

The Role
This is a broad Quantity Surveying position where you will be involved from the early pricing and tendering stages through to the commercial management and completion of projects.

You won't simply be sitting behind a desk pricing work. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to take ownership of projects and work closely with the wider construction team to ensure projects are delivered successfully from both a commercial and operational perspective.
Your responsibilities will include:

• Pricing and estimating new projects
• Preparing tenders and subcontractor packages
• Procurement and subcontractor negotiations
• Cost planning and budget management
• Managing variations and progress claims
• Contract administration
• Cost reporting and forecasting
• Working closely with Project Managers and Site Managers
• Managing the commercial aspects of projects through to final account

The Projects
One of the attractions of this position is the variety of work.
The company has an established track record across Auckland Airport, education, commercial interiors and refurbishment work, alongside residential and wider construction projects. This provides plenty of variety rather than being tied to one particular project type.

About You
We are interested in speaking with Quantity Surveyors at Intermediate through to Senior level.
Ideally, you will have:

• Previous Quantity Surveying experience within the New Zealand construction market
• Main contractor experience would be particularly useful
• The ability to price and tender projects confidently
• Experience commercially managing projects through construction
• Good subcontractor and supplier relationships
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• A practical and commercially minded approach
• The ability to work independently while still enjoying being part of a close-knit team

Most importantly, they are looking for people who are comfortable taking responsibility for their projects and who enjoy being involved across the full QS process.
