An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a highly regarded commercial construction contractor based in Central Otago.
This is an established New Zealand construction business with an excellent reputation for delivering quality commercial projects and providing its people with genuine long-term career opportunities.
Working as part of an experienced regional team, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of projects and work closely with Project Managers, site teams, subcontractors and clients to ensure strong commercial outcomes.
For someone already based in Central Otago, or considering a move to the region, this is a great opportunity to join a stable contractor with an impressive pipeline of work.
The Role
You will be involved across the full commercial lifecycle of projects, from pre-construction and procurement through to final account.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Project financial management, forecasting and reporting
- Procurement and letting of subcontract packages
- Construction contract administration
- Managing subcontractor accounts and payment claims
- Identifying, pricing and negotiating variations
- Supporting estimating and tendering activities
- Providing commercial input during pre-construction
- Working closely with Project Managers and site teams
- Managing project risks and maintaining strong cost control
- Final account negotiations and project close-out
About You We are looking for someone with good commercial construction experience who enjoys taking ownership of their projects and working as part of a wider construction team.
Ideally, you will have:
- A relevant Quantity Surveying or construction qualification
- Previous experience working for a main commercial contractor or specialist subcontractor
- Good knowledge of New Zealand construction contracts and commercial processes
- Experience with procurement, subcontract administration, variations and cost reporting
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Good communication and negotiation skills
- The ability to build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and project teams
- A practical, proactive and solutions-focused approach
- Current eligibility to work in New Zealand
You don't necessarily need to have worked on the largest projects in the market. We are interested in speaking with Quantity Surveyors who have a solid commercial background, good technical ability and are ready to take further responsibility.
What's On Offer? This is more than simply another QS position. You'll be joining a
well-established and successful New Zealand contractor offering stability, quality projects and genuine opportunities to develop your career.
Alongside a competitive salary package, there is an excellent range of additional benefits including
medical insurance, wellbeing initiatives, additional leave options, professional development and career progression opportunities.
Most importantly, you'll be joining an experienced and supportive construction team with a strong pipeline of work across
Central Otago.
If you're an experienced Quantity Surveyor considering your next move, or perhaps looking at relocating to Central Otago, I'd be happy to have a confidential conversation.
