An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Intermediate or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established commercial construction business based in Tauranga.

With a strong history in the New Zealand construction market and an expanding presence across the Bay of Plenty, this contractor has built an excellent reputation for delivering quality commercial projects while maintaining a supportive, down-to-earth team environment.

This is an opportunity to join a stable and respected business, take real ownership of the commercial performance of your projects and work closely with an experienced construction team.

The Role Working alongside Project Managers and site teams, you will be responsible for the commercial and contractual management of commercial construction projects from procurement through to final account.

Depending on your level of experience, the position could suit either a capable Intermediate Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step, or an established Senior Quantity Surveyor wanting greater project ownership within a strong regional contractor.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing project budgets, forecasts, cost reporting and financial performance
• Subcontractor and supplier procurement, negotiation and letting of packages
• Preparing and administering subcontract agreements
• Managing variations, payment claims and final accounts
• Monitoring project costs and identifying commercial and contractual risks
• Cashflow forecasting and monthly financial reporting
• Reviewing contract documentation and advising project teams on contractual matters
• Working closely with Project Managers and site teams to maximise project value
• Managing client, consultant, subcontractor and supplier relationships
• Supporting projects through to successful commercial completion

About You You will already have solid Quantity Surveying experience within the commercial construction sector and be comfortable working as part of a project delivery team.

Ideally, you will offer:

• Relevant Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related qualification
• Good commercial construction experience
• Strong understanding of procurement, cost management and contract administration
• Experience managing variations, payment claims and subcontract accounts
• Knowledge of New Zealand construction contracts, including NZS 3910
• Strong financial forecasting and reporting skills
• Good commercial awareness and attention to detail
• Confident communication and negotiation skills
• A practical, collaborative and solutions-focused approach

What’s On Offer? The salary range is expected to be approximately $110,000 – $150,000, depending on experience and capability, together with a wider package including vehicle, mobile phone and laptop.
