An established and highly respected construction cost consultancy is continuing to grow and is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its Queenstown office.

Working across a diverse portfolio of commercial developments, civil infrastructure and large-scale retirement village projects, you'll become part of a collaborative consultancy with an outstanding reputation for delivering expert commercial advice across New Zealand.

The Opportunity
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll work closely with clients, consultants and contractors, providing expert cost management throughout the full project lifecycle.

With a healthy pipeline of work across both public and private sectors, no two projects are the same. From commercial developments and infrastructure through to retirement village communities, you'll enjoy genuine variety while building long-term client relationships.

This role offers the autonomy to manage your own projects while being supported by an experienced and collaborative national team.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing cost plans, estimates and feasibility studies
• Managing procurement and tender processes
• Contract administration and commercial management
• Cost reporting, forecasting and financial control
• Assessing variations and progress claims
• Negotiating final accounts
• Providing strategic commercial advice to clients
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with project stakeholders
• Mentoring and supporting junior team members where appropriate

About You
You'll ideally have:

• A Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
• Senior Quantity Surveying experience within consultancy or contractor environments
• Strong knowledge of New Zealand construction contracts and commercial practices
• Experience across commercial, civil or vertical construction projects
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills
• A proactive approach with strong commercial judgement
• The ability to work independently while contributing to a close-knit team
