An established New Zealand construction company is continuing to build on its success, delivering a diverse range of commercial and residential projects throughout the country. With a strong pipeline of work and an excellent reputation for quality, innovation and client service, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Christchurch team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership of projects, working closely with clients and project teams, and mentoring the next generation of Quantity Surveyors.
The Opportunity
Based in Christchurch, you'll manage the commercial aspects of multiple construction projects from tender through to final account. You'll work alongside an experienced leadership team, contribute to business success and play a key role in maintaining strong client relationships.
This role offers genuine autonomy while providing the support of an established and collaborative business.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the commercial delivery of multiple construction projects
- Preparing estimates, tender submissions and project budgets
- Procurement and subcontractor management
- Contract administration from project commencement through to final account
- Cost reporting, forecasting and financial management
- Managing variations, progress claims and project cash flow
- Building strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors
- Supporting and mentoring junior Quantity Surveyors
- Working collaboratively with project delivery teams to achieve successful outcomes
About You
To be successful in this role, you'll ideally bring:
- A Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
- At least five years' experience in a Quantity Surveying position within the New Zealand construction industry
- Strong knowledge of NZ construction contracts, including NZS3910, NZS3915 and Master Build contracts
- Experience across estimating, procurement and commercial management
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- The ability to build long-term relationships with clients and project stakeholders
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with excellent commercial judgement
