Water Engineer / Civil Designer (Junior to Senior)
Hamilton, Waikato
 
A growing, forward-thinking engineering consultancy is expanding its Hamilton team and is seeking talent across the spectrum — from Junior Water Engineers through to experienced Civil Designers.
 
This is a unique opportunity to join a collaborative, well-structured team delivering a diverse pipeline of 3 waters, land development, and infrastructure projects across the Waikato and beyond.
 
About the Role
You'll be part of a multidisciplinary team contributing to the planning, modelling, and design of water and civil infrastructure projects. Depending on your level of experience, you'll be involved in everything from technical delivery through to project coordination and design leadership.
 
This role offers strong exposure across stormwater, wastewater, and potable water systems, alongside broader civil design work including subdivisions and infrastructure.
 
What You'll Be Doing

• Supporting or leading 3 waters modelling and analysis
• Delivering design work across water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure
• Contributing to land development and civil design projects (earthworks, drainage, roading)
• Preparing design documentation and coordinating with project teams
• Attending client and project meetings
• Collaborating with engineers, planners, and surveyors
• Mentoring junior staff (for more senior candidates)

What They're Looking For

• Junior-Intermediate (2-4 years):
• Exposure to 3 waters or civil infrastructure projects
• Experience with Civil 3D (or similar) beneficial
• Eagerness to learn and build technical capability

• Mid-Senior (5+ years):
• Strong experience in land development or infrastructure design
• Proficiency in Civil 3D (12d advantageous)
• Experience delivering projects and coordinating design outputs
• Ability to mentor and contribute to technical quality

• For all candidates:
• Relevant civil engineering or design qualification
• Strong communication and collaborative approach
• Ability to work both independently and within a team
