We’re working with a well-established and growing construction business seeking a capable and proactive Design Manager to join their team. This is an opportunity to be involved in a diverse pipeline of projects, working alongside a collaborative and forward-thinking team.

The Opportunity in this role, you will lead and manage the full design process across one or multiple projects – from early concept through to construction delivery. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring design outputs are coordinated, buildable, cost-effective, and aligned with programme requirements.

You’ll also have the opportunity to influence design strategy, contribute to process improvements, and take ownership of projects as your experience allows.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design management across projects
• Coordinate consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure seamless integration
• Provide strong constructability input and value engineering throughout the design phase
• Manage the consenting process from application through to approval
• Facilitate design reviews and ensure high-quality, coordinated documentation
• Monitor design programme, risks, and changes, resolving issues proactively
• Support the transition from design into construction delivery

About You

• 5+ years’ experience in design coordination or design management within construction
• Strong understanding of design documentation, buildability, and project delivery
• Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and disciplines
• Solid knowledge of New Zealand construction methods, standards, and consenting processes
• Proactive, solutions-focused, and confident communicator

Preferred (but not essential):

• Related qualification (structural, civil, or mechanical)
• Experience in industrial or design & build environments
• Familiarity with tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, BIM360 or Autodesk Construction Cloud

• Salary: $130,000 – $150,000 (depending on experience)
