Construction and Technical Recruitment (CTR) are working with a well-established and highly regarded consultancy is seeking a Senior Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) to join its Auckland team. This role offers the opportunity to work at a senior level across a broad range of civil infrastructure projects, providing trusted commercial advice and leadership from early project planning through to completion.
 
This position suits an experienced civil PQS who enjoys client engagement, commercial problem-solving and mentoring others, while still remaining hands-on with project delivery.
The Role
 
As a Senior PQS, you will play a key role in the commercial management of civil projects, working closely with clients, consultants and delivery teams. Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading cost planning, feasibility studies and estimates for civil infrastructure projects
• Providing strategic commercial advice during early project stages
• Preparing tender documentation and managing procurement processes
• Administering construction contracts, including progress claims, variations, EOTs and change control
• Producing detailed cost reports, forecasts and risk assessments
• Managing final accounts and commercial close-out
• Supporting and mentoring junior quantity surveyors
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of systems, processes and standards

Projects may include roading, three waters, utilities, earthworks, structures and wider civil works.

About You
 
You will be a confident, commercially astute professional with a strong background in civil infrastructure. You will bring:

• Significant experience as a Professional Quantity Surveyor within the civil sector
• Proven capability operating at a senior or lead PQS level
• Strong knowledge of NZ civil construction methods and cost drivers
• Solid experience administering construction contracts 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• A client-focused, solutions-oriented mindset
• The ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team 

Membership with NZIQS and/or RICS (or working toward chartership) will be highly regarded.
