About the Role
  
An exciting opportunity now exists for a passionate and motivated Environmental Advisor to have involvement across all of Sojitz Blue operational assets including Minerva, Meteor Down South, Gregory, Crinum. With a strong focus on Minerva Mine Rehabilitation Project. 
  
The position covers all facets of mine site environmental management with a particular focus on the company’s environmental compliance obligations. Reporting to the Operations Manager – SSE, your success will be supported by environmental peers within the group, who will visit the site frequently. This is a 5/2 residential role which will require you to live in the vibrant rural community of Emerald or nearby.
  
Key Responsibilities:  

• Provide timely professional and technical advice in relation to effective management of environmental matters.
• Assist with Environmental Authority and rehabilitation monitoring and reporting requirements.
• Managing the cultural heritage and environmental offset requirements.
• Ensuring all Environmental incidents are reported and investigated in accordance with the relevant procedure.
• Implementing immediate corrective actions to avoid breaches.
• Involvement in Environmental Inspections /Audits as required.

About You:

You will be a team player who prioritises safety, while understanding your role and how you impact upon the achievement of team objectives. You will be able to prioritise tasks and always maintain compliance with site policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will have the following:

• Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, agricultural science, land management or a related discipline.
• 2 or more years’ demonstrated experience working in a mining environment or longer in a related heavy industry.
• Strong technical understanding of ground and surface water, and soil and plant sciences.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including report writing and the ability to influence a range of stakeholders.
• Competent in Microsoft Office suite, ARC and GIS.
• Well-developed teamwork, team building and support skills.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Strong commitment to safe production and a technical understanding of mining and environmental legislation.
