Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you will lead a team responsible for short-term mine planning and drill & blast activities.
This role will see you providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers and driving safe and efficient mine design and scheduling outcomes aligned with operational objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading and mentoring a team of Short-Term Planning and Drill & Blast Engineers
• Driving safe and efficient mine planning practices across operational execution
• Providing technical expertise across mine design, scheduling and drill & blast activities
• Ensuring planning processes align with operational and production targets
• Reconciling planning performance and conformance to plan
• Collaborating closely with technical, operational and leadership stakeholders
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the Technical Services function
About You
You are a collaborative and technically capable mining professional who enjoys leading teams and influencing operational outcomes within a fast-paced mining environment.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:
• Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline
• Previous experience within open cut coal mining operations
• Strong mine planning and scheduling capability
• Experience using mine planning software such as Vulcan and Deswik
• Exposure to scheduling tools including SPRY or similar platforms
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Strong analytical, leadership and strategic thinking capability
• A proactive and safety-focused approach to mining operations
