About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced Short-Term Mining Engineer to join a leading open-cut coal operation. Working on an 8/6 roster, you’ll take ownership of the short-term schedule, truck and shovel design, and haulage optimisation. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment and enjoys seeing their plans executed in real time.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain weekly and rolling short-term mine schedules.
• Design and optimise truck & shovel dig/dump sequences, haul roads, and ramps.
• Conduct haulage and cycle-time analysis to improve productivity and cost efficiency.
• Monitor compliance with the plan, identify variances, and work with production teams to close gaps.
• Collaborate daily with Drill & Blast, Survey, Geology, Maintenance, and CHPP teams.
• Support continuous improvement and short-term planning discipline on-site.

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years’ experience in open-cut coal operations, focused on short-term planning.
• Proficiency in Deswik, Spry, or Vulcan (Deswik.Sched or Spry experience highly regarded).
• Strong communication skills and a practical, problem-solving mindset.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic production environment and managing tight turnaround schedules.
