What's the Role:

As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the innovative and cost-effective design of Mining Mobile Plant products and services, specialising in Rope Shovels GET. You will apply your engineering expertise to plan and execute projects that meet and exceed customer requirements, directly contributing to Bradken Mining Mobile Plant's business objectives.

You will be responsible for essential technical tasks including 3D CAD modeling to FEA/FEM simulations, site based reverse engineering and other technical requirements for current and future products. You will be providing crucial technical support to both internal and external stakeholders will be key, as will attending customer sites for inspections, installations, and on-site assistance.
  
Being customer-focused and at the forefront of innovation, you will be developing and enhancing products tailored to meet the specific needs of top global mining clients, while ensuring product excellence and reliability
You will manage the seamless transition of new and optimised products through the engineering and manufacturing stages. This involves preparing comprehensive technical documentation detailing the manufacture and application of our products.

To ensure quality and accuracy, you will meticulously check models and drawings against established standards and engineering requirements. Finally, you will control and distribute all necessary technical documents to both the manufacturing and sales teams, ensuring everyone has the information they need.
  
  
Key Technical Criteria:

• You hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics, with hands-on experience in roles such as Product Engineer, Applications Engineer, or Mechanical Design Engineer.
• You have 2-3 years of solid experience in 2D/3D CAD modeling, FEA (Finite Element Analysis), and/or FEM (Finite Element Method).
• You’re passionate about the design and manufacturing of Rope Shovel GET, Crawler Shovels, Excavator equipment, with ideal expertise in retention systems, reliability issues, and wear mechanisms.
• You bring a problem-solving mindset, with a keen eye for detail in both design and documentation.

Desirable to have (Not a must-have):

• You’re well-versed with tools like Unigraphics, ANSYS, ANSYS Motion, and Teamcenter.
• You have experience in projects, research, or investigations related to heavy machinery, preferably in mobile mining equipment, focusing on innovation and product improvement.
• You have previous experience in a foundry environment or related, and metallurgy knowledge

This role can be based in Newcastle.
