The SEC is building an enterprising and dynamic team to accelerate Victoria's transition to renewables and help achieve Victoria's renewable energy target of 95% by 2035. We are working together for renewable, affordable, reliable energy for all Victorians.
Your role
As a Product Designer - Digital at the SEC, you'll play a key role in shaping intuitive, accessible, and high-quality digital experiences across both web and mobile platforms. You'll be responsible for translating user needs and business objectives into thoughtful, user-centric designs that deliver real impact, ensuring every interaction is seamless, engaging, and aligned to best practice.
Working in close collaboration with product owners, developers, and a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, you'll bring ideas to life from concept through to delivery. Leveraging industry-standard tools such as Figma, Miro, and other product delivery platforms, you'll contribute to a collaborative, fast-paced environment focused on continuous improvement and innovation.
This role can be based in either our Melbourne CBD office or our regional office located in Morwell.
What you will do
Some of the core accountabilities include:
- Lead end-to-end design of digital product experiences, from discovery and ideation through to delivery, testing, and continuous iteration
- Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using tools such as Figma, Miro, and other relevant platforms
- Apply user-centred design principles and accessibility standards (including WCAG) to deliver intuitive, responsive, and high-quality experiences
- Collaborate closely with product owners, developers, and stakeholders, contributing to workshops, design sprints, and discovery activities
- Translate user insights and business requirements into effective design solutions, while preparing design assets, documentation, and contributing to design systems
Who you are Must have: - Experience as a Digital Product Designer, UX/UI Designer, or similar role with a shareable portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design work
- Strong proficiency in Figma and experience working with design systems
- Experience facilitating or contributing to workshops using Miro
- Solid understanding of user-centred design, usability, and accessibility principles such as
- WCAG 2.2 AA.
- Experience working in Agile or Lean product delivery environments
Highly Desirable:
- Experience in the electricity sector or other highly regulated sector.
- Experience with working with channel partners or developing products for a partner network
- Basic understanding of the energy transition and where opportunities to deliver solutions for residential consumers exist.
- Tertiary qualification in Design, UX, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)

The organisation is partnering with industry to transform the energy sector, opening the state up for further innovation and investments in renewables. This includes an initial $1 billion towards delivering 4.5 gigawatts of power through renewable energy and storage projects - the equivalent replacement capacity of coal-fired power station Loy Yang A, which is set to close in 2035.
The SEC will also play an important role in helping Victorian households to reduce their energy bills and emissions by offering simple and effective solutions to help them switch to electric.
The energy transformation will create thousands of jobs. The SEC will play a role in attracting and training our future renewable energy workforce.
