Your role
As a Wholesale C&I Pricing Lead within the Energy Markets Analytics team at the SEC, you will be responsible for wholesale transfer pricing, supporting the retail team by generating pricing for SEC's C&I customer base and updating and maintaining the pricing models and tools in line with SEC's risk and transfer pricing methodology.
You will use your expert market knowledge and critical thinking capabilities to conduct detailed analysis of market trends, customer energy demand behaviour, and retail costs to help deliver competitive and sustainable pricing models
This role can be based in either our Melbourne CBD office or our regional office located in Morwell.
What you will do:
Pricing analysis and execution
- Ownership of the wholesale C&I pricing tool.
- Responsible for running detailed wholesale pricing analysis and generating transfer prices for existing and prospective C&I customers
- Validation of existing C&I pricing contracts and developing pricing options for prospective C&I customers based on historic and forecast load profiles and shapes
- Development and maintenance of default C&I load profiles and load shape premiums
Pricing strategy development - Support the development and continuous improvement of the SEC's C&I pricing strategies for renewable energy products, including retail agreements, retail power purchase agreements, flexible demand response products, and time-of-use pricing
Market, regulatory and competitor analysis - Maintain a market-leading perspective of the C&I retail market, including research and analysis of market trends, competitor offerings, customer needs and regulatory changes
Data collation, management, reporting and visualisation - Improve the organisation, interpretation and presentation of market data from various sources, including the AEMO Market Management System, ASX Energy Futures and the SEC's Enterprise Trading and Risk Management system
- Perform retail portfolio analytics and broader analysis
Who you are: Must Have: Your capabilities and areas of expertise that matter most for this role are:
- Tertiary qualifications (honours or advanced desirable) in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Economics, Finance and/or another relevant specialisation.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the Australian energy market, particularly regarding C&I pricing, energy retailing, the operation of wholesale markets, renewable energy assets, financial markets, and trading systems.
- Numerical and computing skills to support the development of accessible analytical and reporting tools including Advanced Excel, Power BI, and/or Tableau.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to collaboratively interpret data and modelling outputs and produce and distribute meaningful insights across the organisation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to explain complex technical details to non-technical stakeholders.
- Aligned to the SEC ways of working and cultural behaviours, with an unwavering customer focus, striving for continuous improvement, and demonstrating a proactive can-do, attitude in what is a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Highly Desirable: - Proficient in programming languages for data processing and workflow development, with a preference for Python, R, and/or SQL.
- Understanding of Victorian Government energy policies, targets, and initiatives, with a genuine interest in supporting the state's renewable energy transition.
