More action is needed to reduce emissions and manage climate change. At the SEC, we are building an enterprising and dynamic team to accelerate Victoria's transition to renewables and help achieve Victoria's renewable energy target of 95% by 2035.

Your role
This a part- time position - 3 to 4 days per week.
As a Community Engagement Specialist, you will build relationships and facilitate engagement with a broad range of stakeholders in the Wimmera region and across Victoria to ensure local communities are well informed of our renewable energy projects and benefits from hosting them.
You will design and implement tailored communication and engagement strategies for a range of stakeholders including local councils and community organisations, business groups, landholders, near neighbours Traditional Owner groups and First Peoples.
You will be expected to spend a lot of your time in the Wimmera region to build strong ongoing relationships.
What you will do:
Some of your core accountabilities include:
- Coordinate implementation and delivery of best practice stakeholder and community engagement, consistent with SEC objectives, focused on the SEC Renewable Energy Park- Horsham in the Wimmera region.
- Lead the development of best practice strategies to facilitate, engage and communicate with key stakeholders and community in relation to the planning, development and operational life of the SEC Renewable Energy Park- Horsham and other projects across the state.
- Work with a wide range of internal stakeholders, including our third-party project partners and contractors to identify and manage local community issues, constraints and needs to ensure timely, relevant, and tailored consultation occurs based on local values, concerns and preferences.
- Lead the planning and delivery of engagement for benefits sharing associated with SEC projects, to ensure they reflect community aspirations and deliver meaningful impacts for local communities.
- Support the First Peoples Partnerships Lead and Assets team in building meaningful relationships with Traditional Owner groups in the Wimmera region to establish a partnership approach to engagement with Traditional Owners and First Nations Peoples.
Who you are: Must have: Your capabilities and areas of expertise that matter most for this role are:
- Knowledge of the communities and local economies in the Wimmera region.
- Tertiary qualifications in stakeholder engagement, media, or public relations. IAP2 training highly regarded.
- Strong experience in stakeholder engagement, negotiation and conflict management, with experience on complex major projects or experience engaging with diverse regional communities highly valued.
- Experience and expertise in designing and delivering community engagement or consultation processes with a track record of innovation and success.
- Experience in developing promotional and communication materials including digital media.
- Knowledge of working with Traditional Owners in a self-determining manner.

This includes an initial $1 billion towards delivering 4.5 gigawatts of power through renewable energy and storage projects - the equivalent replacement capacity of coal-fired power station Loy Yang A, which is set to close in 2035.
We will also play an important role in helping Victorian households to reduce their energy bills and emissions by offering simple and effective solutions to help them switch to electric.
The energy transformation will create thousands of jobs. The SEC will play a role in attracting and training our future renewable energy workforce, including through the SEC Centre of Training Excellence.
