Your role
As SEC's Credit, Collections and Payment Lead, you will oversee and manage credit control, payment processing, and collections for SEC's Commercial and Industrial Retail Electricity business to ensure SEC's financial stability and efficiency.
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Credit and Collections lead with a strong background in credit management, payment/recoveries processing, and financial analysis, who can work in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to drive successful credit management strategies and streamline payment processes.
This role will also be responsible for working with the Customer Operations Leader to build out the credit and collections function as SEC's Commercial and Industrial retail electricity business grows.
This role can be based in our Melbourne CBD office.
What you will do:
- Lead the credit control function, ensuring accurate credit assessments for new and existing customers while managing credit risk through established policies and procedures.
- Work closely with Sales, Customer Service, and other departments to ensure seamless communication on credit approvals, payment issues, and customer accounts.
- Oversee collections activities for overdue accounts, monitor accounts receivable ageing, and coordinate timely follow-ups to minimise outstanding balances.
- Prepare and present regular reports on credit and payment activities to senior management, highlighting risks, trends, and corrective actions.
- Analyse trends in credit risk, payment behaviour, and cash flow to identify areas for process improvement and implement corrective measures.
Who you are: - You have demonstrated experience in credit risk management, accounts receivable, or collections, preferably in a large corporate or utility environment.
- Demonstrable understanding of end-to-end credit and collections processes
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills with proficiency in MS office.
- Demonstrated ability to manage high-value or complex disputes and customer accounts.
- Solid understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks related to credit and collections.
- Familiarity with insolvency processes and working with legal or recovery teams is a strong advantage.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Alignment to the SEC ways of working and cultural behaviours, including unwavering customer focus, a drive for continuous improvement, and a proactive can-do attitude in what is a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
