Do work that makes a difference The SEC is building an enterprising and dynamic team to accelerate Victoria's transition to renewables and help achieve Victoria's renewable energy target of 95% by 2035. We are working together for renewable, affordable, reliable energy for all Victorians.
Your role As a
People & Culture Administrator at SEC, you will play a key role in supporting the success of our team by delivering high-quality operational and administrative support across the P&C function. You will coordinate important employee lifecycle activities, ensuring a smooth and positive experience for employees from onboarding through to off-boarding. In addition, you will be trained as a payroll backup—an essential responsibility that supports business continuity and the accuracy of our payroll and HR systems.
This role can be based in either our
Melbourne CBD office or our regional office located in
Morwell.
What you will do: - P&C Administration & Systems: Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS (TechOne) and other systems; manage P&C filing, SharePoint folders, inboxes, and calendar; prepare employment documentation (contracts/variations via DocuSign); track compliance dates (probation, visas, licences, flexible work, qualifications, mandatory training); update intranet pages, forms, and templates; and assist with P&C reporting.
- Onboarding & Induction: Support completion of onboarding documentation, pre-employment checks, and system access; provide induction and first-day logistics; and guide hiring managers through the onboarding and induction process.
- Recruitment Support: Coordinate recruitment administration including creating requisitions in HRIS, drafting job adverts, posting ads on relevant platforms, and assisting hiring managers with candidate screening and communications.
- Employee Lifecycle & Development: Coordinate professional development activities (training, records, logistics, tracking); manage and refresh offboarding processes to ensure compliance and employee experience; provide frontline P&C query support; and assist the broader P&C team with project work.
- Payroll Support: Train and act as payroll backup to ensure business continuity, including reconciling leave, checking system accuracy prior to pay runs, validating data, preparing pay run reports, and supporting other payroll tasks as required.
- Engagement & Communication: Coordinate the P&C events calendar, contribute to engagement initiatives, and support internal communication to build employee awareness across SEC.
Who you are: - Ability to prioritise tasks, stay organised, and manage multiple deadlines with strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity and discretion when working with sensitive employee information.
- Strong organisational skills with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
- Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous experience in HR coordination or administration, with exposure to payroll processes (preferred).
Highly Desirable - Experience using AI tools and technologies to improve productivity, automate tasks, and enhance efficiency.
- Familiarity with HRIS or payroll systems (e.g., TechOne or similar).
- A basic understanding of Australian employment law and Fair Work obligations.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams and build strong working relationships.
