Your role As the
Community Liaison Officer at SEC’s Morwell hub, you will be part of a team that will play a key public-facing role by helping visitors understand Victoria’s energy transition, answering their questions, and connecting them with relevant SEC services and information.
Reporting to the Manager, Community and Stakeholder Engagement, you will be the face of the SEC and facilitate exceptional experiences for visitors to our hub. You will be responsible for supporting the general operations of the hub, event organisation, and supporting the Manager, Community and Stakeholder Engagement whilst ensuring the highest levels of customer service.
We are seeking a committed and passionate person to create welcoming and memorable experiences for our community members, local organisations and stakeholders. Your experience working in customer service, retail, and/or a community-facing role partnered with a passion to engage with people from a wide range of backgrounds will be highly regarded.
This role is a part-time, 3 days a week position, and will be based in
Morwell.
What you will do: - Provide exceptional customer service and ensure that all visitors not only feel welcomed, but have a positive experience within the hub
- Enhancing and building SEC’s relationships and reputation as a trusted organisation within Morwell and the Latrobe Valley by working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including local communities
- Support key stakeholders and community relationship building activities including planning and delivery of engagement activities, meetings and community engagement events at the hub
- Ensure the smooth operation of the hub and be ready to support other teams as required to ensure the overall hub’s presentation, operations, and cleanliness is maintained at a high level.
- Oversee a pool of casual Assistant staff, and provide support, clarity, and direction of community engagement to foster a great community experience.
Who you are: - Relevant tertiary qualifications and equivalent experience in a similar role, partnered with a keen interest in renewable energy
- Confidence in representing the SEC to community members and community organisations
- High-level of interpersonal skills, with demonstrated experience in building and maintaining relationships with different groups, including members of a local community.
- Effective verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with the community and relevant internal SEC business functions
- Confident using Microsoft Office and basic digital tools (e.g. forms, calendars, CRMs)
- Solid organisation and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines effectively
Highly Desirable: - Experience in managing complex community and stakeholder enquiries.
- Experience working with diverse communities including First Nations people, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse groups, to ensure inclusive and equitable engagement.
- An understanding or keen interest of Victoria’s energy transition or experience in the energy sector
Work Requirements & Expectations: - Occasional weekend work may be required.

- First Aid Certificate (or willingness to undertake First Aid training)

The SEC will also play an important role in helping Victorian households to reduce their energy bills and emissions by offering simple and effective solutions to help them switch to electric.
