Do work that makes a difference The SEC is building an enterprising and dynamic team to accelerate Victoria’s transition to renewables and help achieve Victoria’s renewable energy target of 95% by 2035. We are working together for renewable, affordable, reliable energy for all Victorians.
Your role As a Management Accountant, you’ll join our dynamic finance team to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance analysis. You’ll play a key role in providing insights that guide decision-making across the organisation. If you’re detail-oriented, motivated, and experienced in management accounting, we’d love to hear from you.
This role can be based in either our
Melbourne CBD office or our regional office located in
Morwell.
What you will do: - Budgeting & Forecasting: Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and cash flow models. Monitor performance and help address variances.
- Financial Modelling & Reporting: Build and maintain models to track performance and report on key financial and operational metrics.
- Business partner: Supporting business areas with reporting, financial analysis and cost tracking activities.
- Compliance & Controls: Ensure financial data is accurate and compliant with internal policies and standards. Assist with internal and external audits.
- Process Improvement: Help improve financial systems and processes to boost accuracy and efficiency.
- Ad Hoc Support: Assist with financial reporting, analysis, and special projects as needed.
Who you are: Your capabilities and areas of expertise that matter most for this role are:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with 3–5 years' experience in management accounting or financial analysis
- Strong grasp of accounting principles, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Proficient in Excel and accounting systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills with high attention to detail
- Strong communicator with the ability to explain financials to non-finance stakeholders and work well both independently and in a team

The organisation is partnering with industry to transform the energy sector, opening the state up for further innovation and investments in renewables. This includes an initial $1 billion towards delivering 4.5 gigawatts of power through renewable energy and storage projects – the equivalent replacement capacity of coal-fired power station Loy Yang A, which is set to close in 2035.
The SEC will also play an important role in helping Victorian households to reduce their energy bills and emissions by offering simple and effective solutions to help them switch to electric.
The energy transformation will create thousands of jobs. The SEC will play a role in attracting and training our future renewable energy workforce.
