Do work that makes a difference The SEC is building an enterprising and dynamic team to accelerate Victoria’s transition to renewables and help achieve Victoria’s renewable energy target of 95% by 2035. We are working together for renewable, affordable, reliable energy for all Victorians.
Your role As
SEC’s Senior Communications Lead, you will play a key role in leading internal communications. You’ll design and implement strategies that support the CEO and executive team to drive employee engagement, foster alignment with SEC’s business objectives, and build meaningful channels that connect and engage employees across Victoria.
This role can be based in either our
Melbourne CBD office or our regional office located in
Morwell.
What you will do: - Internal Communications Strategy
Develop and implement internal communications strategies and calendars to build workforce engagement, support SEC’s strategic priorities, and drive alignment across core hubs, facilities, and key organisational initiatives. - Strategic Advice
Provide expert internal and change communications advice to the Head of Brand and Channels, including risk and mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery. - Content Development
Lead the creation of high-quality, engaging internal communications, including CEO and executive updates, ensuring consistency in tone and messaging. - Channels Management
Build, review, and continuously improve internal communication channels to ensure they effectively support engagement and strategic alignment as the organisation grows. - Performance and Change Support
Develop and track key performance metrics, measure communication effectiveness, and lead change communications for company-wide transformation programs.
Who you are: Experiences and Skills: Must have: - You bring at least six years of experience in internal communications, with proven expertise in strategy, leadership, and change communications.
- You are an exceptional communicator – highly skilled in both influencing stakeholders and crafting clear, engaging written content.
- You are a strategic thinker and a strong executor, known for your attention to detail and ability to drive outcomes.
- You hold tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, or a related field.
- You thrive in fast-paced, high-performing environments, consistently meeting deadlines and delivering to high professional standards.
- You are a proactive, relationship-driven leader who builds trust and strong partnerships at all levels of the organisation.
Highly desirable: - Exposure to the energy sector and understanding of energy transition issues is highly desirable.

The organisation is partnering with industry to transform the energy sector, opening the state up for further innovation and investments in renewables. This includes an initial $1 billion towards delivering 4.5 gigawatts of power through renewable energy and storage projects – the equivalent replacement capacity of coal-fired power station Loy Yang A, which is set to close in 2035.
The SEC will also play an important role in helping Victorian households to reduce their energy bills and emissions by offering simple and effective solutions to help them switch to electric.
The energy transformation will create thousands of jobs. The SEC will play a role in attracting and training our future renewable energy workforce.
