Your role As a
Technology Governance Lead within our Technology and Data team, you be responsible for maturing the SEC’s cyber security profile through the execution of our cyber security strategy and building a governance framework to manage technology risks, compliance obligations and performance against key metrics.
The focus of the role will be on developing and implementing a fit-for-purpose technology governance framework for the SEC to manage compliances and risks. It will include managing the implementation of cyber security initiatives in alignment with the SEC cyber security strategy and provided assurance reporting to senior management. The role will complete cyber security risk reporting for executive risk committee, and industry frameworks to track changes in risk profile and cyber security maturity level. In addition it will also develop positive relationships across all SEC business units including knowledge sharing on technology risks.
This role can be based in Melbourne or Morwell. What you will do – Core Accountabilities include: Technology Governance Management - Develop, implement, and maintain technology governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Governance Reporting - Monitor and report on governance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Risk Management - Identify, assess, and manage technology-related risks including cyber security and collaborate with SEC’s corporate risk team to report risks into SEC risk committees. Develop risk mitigation strategies and action plans and conduct regular risk assessments and audits to ensure the effectiveness of controls.
Cyber Security Strategy - Oversee the execution of the SEC’s multi-year cyber security strategy and provide regular reporting on progress to risk committees and senior management. Collaborate with the cyber security team and SEC business units to implement security initiatives and activities.
Stakeholder & Vendor Collaboration - Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with SEC technology governance and risk management objectives.
Who you are: Must Have: Your capabilities and areas of expertise that matter most for this role are:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in technology governance, risk management, or cyber security.
- Proven experience implementing actions to address technology governance requirements and risks improve compliance standards and/or reduce technology risk profile
- Experience working within a highly regulated industry
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Highly Desirable - Knowledge of data privacy regulations and practices.
- Familiarity with security frameworks and methodologies specific to the utilities sector.
