Your role As a
Data Engineer within our Technology and Data team, you be responsible for providing operational support for our data platform and working with business stakeholders to continually enhance the platform capabilities.
The focus of the role will be on implementing a robust support framework for the SEC data platform including daily health monitoring checks. This includes delivering outstanding operational support to manage and resolve incidents and defects identified in the data platform. You will also collaborate with SEC business units to enhance the data platform to help achieve business operational and strategic goals. The role will develop a strong understanding of the current and future state data entity model. It will also build strong relationships with key 3rd party vendors and stakeholder groups.
This role can be based in Melbourne or Morwell. What you will do – Core Accountabilities include: Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust data ingestion pipelines to collect and process data from various sources across SEC landscape including SaaS applications and 3rd party sources.
Operational Support: Support and manage the Azure Databricks data platform environment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability aligned to business SLAs.
Monitoring & Alerting: Act as the central contact point for troubleshooting and resolve issues related to data ingestion and processing.
Teamwork: Collaborate with market analytics, data analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
Continuous Improvement: Implement data quality checks and monitoring to optimize data workflows and processes for efficiency and scalability and ensure data integrity.
Knowledge: Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and best practices in data engineering and cloud technologies.
Who you are: Must Have: Your capabilities and areas of expertise that matter most for this role are:
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Strong experience building and supporting data platforms within an Azure Databricks environment.
- Experience building and maintaining data ingestion pipelines from SaaS cloud applications.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Scala, or Java.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
- Familiarity with data governance and security best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Highly Desirable - Certification in Azure Data Engineering or related fields.
- Experience within Energy & Utility industry.
