Your role As a
Cloud DevOps Engineer- Azure, you will be key in developing, deploying, and supporting SEC’s Integration and Data platforms. Your focus will be on creating scalable, secure cloud solutions that align with SEC's technology roadmap. Working with cross-functional teams, you will help enhance platform reliability, drive innovation, and ensure the cloud infrastructure meets both operational and security needs to support SEC’s business objectives.
This role can be based in either our Melbourne CBD office or our regional office located in Morwell.
What you will do: - Build and maintain scalable, resilient Azure cloud environments to support applications and ensure operational excellence.
- Provide expertise on Azure integration and data platforms, including patterns and tools, to optimize performance and scalability.
- Set up and manage monitoring and alerting systems (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights) to ensure proactive incident management.
- Ensure compliance, security, and best practices in alignment with SEC’s internal policies and regulatory obligations.
- Optimize workflows within Databricks for data engineering and machine learning pipelines, while supporting incident resolution and collaborating with business units for future
Who you are: Must Have Your capabilities and areas of expertise that matter most for this role are
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience), with experience in cloud engineering, including a focus on Azure.
- Hands-on experience with Azure services such as Databricks, AKS, Data Factory, and Logic Apps.
- Expertise in CI/CD pipeline development and infrastructure automation using tools like Terraform, Bicep, or Azure DevOps.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation with PowerShell, Python, or Bash, alongside a deep understanding of integration platforms and API development.
- Solid knowledge of cloud security practices, compliance frameworks, and troubleshooting expertise in Azure technologies.
Highly Desirable - Azure cloud certifications highly regarded
- Previous experience working within the Energy & Utilities industry
- Familiarity with big data and analytics solutions in Azure, including Synapse Analytics and Power BI.

The SEC will also play an important role in helping Victorian households to reduce their energy bills and emissions by offering simple and effective solutions to help them switch to electric.
