What’s the Brief?
You’ll be joining a small but passionate People & Culture team that plays a central role in shaping a creative and purpose-driven organisation. The team is committed to building a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace - one where people are supported, heard, and empowered to thrive.
In this six month contract role, you’ll step in to lead complex employee relations work, support leaders through sensitive matters, and contribute to broader culture and engagement initiatives.

As the Employee Relations Specialist, reporting to the HR Manager, you’ll take the lead on complex and high-volume ER case management while supporting the smooth running of the HR function. You’ll be the go-to person for all things employee relations - providing calm, pragmatic advice in an environment where issues can move quickly.
You’ll also help with recruitment, onboarding, and project work such as policy refreshes, salary benchmarking, and the annual review cycle. It’s a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with a creative workforce and leadership team who genuinely value HR partnership and guidance.
Your Role in Action - Employee Relations Expertise: Manage around 25–30 open cases at a time, providing high-touch, high-quality advice and resolution across awards and EBAs.
- Coaching & Support: Build confidence in leaders and staff through practical, empathetic guidance on workplace issues.
- Culture & Engagement: Contribute to cultural change initiatives supported by Culture Amp and Steeple, helping to embed new ways of working.
- Project Work: Support HR processes including onboarding, performance, and the upcoming salary review cycle.
- Collaboration: Partner closely with a small HR team that values transparency, teamwork, and humour in a high-energy workplace.
Your Toolkit
You’re a confident HR professional with deep employee relations experience - someone who can bring structure, empathy, and sound judgment to a creative, fast-moving environment.
- Solid background in ER or workplace relations, ideally within award-based or EBA-driven environments.
- Strong capability managing complex, high-volume ER caseloads.
- Ability to work independently, handle ambiguity, and deliver under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - you stay calm and credible under pressure.
- Comfortable working in a creative, high-touch environment with limited systems support.
- A hands-on, people-first approach - balanced with professionalism and pragmatism.
