It’s a mix of strategy and hands-on delivery – perfect for someone who loves building from the ground up, working closely with the CEO, and shaping a people function that can support rapid, sustainable growth.
What’s the brief?Take ownership of People & Culture from end to end. You’ll set the priorities for the next 12 months and shape the three-year people strategy. Along the way, you’ll put practical frameworks in place, lift leader capability, and bring in systems that make work easier and fairer – all while protecting the friendly, relationship-driven culture that makes the business tick.
Your impact - Work with the CEO to shape a people strategy that supports the company’s growth journey
- Put the basics in place across hiring, performance, engagement and compliance
- Build simple, scalable recruitment processes to bring in great talent
- Look ahead and plan workforce needs in line with the 3-year commercial roadmap
- Create fair and practical approaches to performance and pay that fit the business
- Support leaders to have open, constructive conversations about performance and employee relations
- Design culture initiatives that genuinely build trust
- Strengthen compliance across safety, awards and ER so leaders can feel confident they’re on the right track
- Review the current HR tech and suggest cost-effective systems that grow with the business
- Provide clear, straightforward reporting that keeps investors and PE stakeholders in the loop
- Help the business navigate offshore employment needs while staying on top of local obligations
- Build trust quickly with senior leaders and be the sounding board they turn to
About you - Experience building or scaling HR in a growing business
- Comfortable switching between strategy and hands-on delivery
- Commercially minded, with an understanding of PE or scale-up pace
- Influences and coaches well – challenges respectfully and brings others along
- Skilled at growing capability in founder-led or entrepreneurial settings
- Solid grounding in ER and award compliance in Australia
- Hands-on experience with ATS and HR systems improvements
- Able to design straightforward, scalable performance and pay frameworks
- Exposure to multi-country HR (UK or Southeast Asia a bonus)
- Pragmatic and transparent – flags issues early, keeps people informed, values progress
- Builds relationships easily and fits well in a friendly, social culture
- Balances culture and structure – knows when to keep things flexible and when to add rigour
