Who are you? You’re a legally qualified (1-2 years PQE) workplace relations specialist ready to pivot into a role that’s more commercial, people-focused, and fast-moving. You’re confident without being cocky, articulate with all levels (blue and white collar), and you thrive on solving problems quickly without cutting corners. You ask the right questions, know when to push and when to partner, and you’re ready to grow in-house - with long-term potential to step into a Legal Counsel role.
Day to day This is a true ER/IR partnering role with a legal edge. You’ll support 2 business units - handling case management (misconduct, PIPs, investigations, dismissals), educating leaders, managing performance matters, and offering practical advice. Around 70% of your time will be case management and partnering with executive level leadership, while 30% will have you working alongside in-house legal on contracts, Fair Work matters, compliance audits, and document drafting. You’ll also get exposure to change management, restructures, and EBA negotiations.
What’s in your toolkit? - A current Australian practising certificate (essential)
- Experience in case management and running investigations end-to-end
- Comfort working across awards, agreements, and Fair Work matters
- Strong written and verbal skills - you’ll be writing, presenting, and advising
- Confidence, curiosity, and commercial thinking
- A genuine ability to flex - you’re just as comfortable with an ops manager in high-vis as you are in a meeting with the COO
