An exciting opportunity exists for a Permanent Full Time Program Leader Community Events and Activation in our Community Services Directorate based in Moranbah. Reporting to the Coordinator Community Development, the Program Leader Community Events and Activation provides leadership and oversight in the planning, coordination and delivery of a diverse range of community events, programs and activation initiatives that enrich local community life and enhance participation across the region.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is passionate about building vibrant, connected communities and enjoys working collaboratively with stakeholders to produce high‑quality, inclusive events. The successful candidate will bring creativity, strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to delivering programs that foster community engagement and contribute positively to the wellbeing and vibrancy of the Isaac Region.
To be successful in this position, you will:
- Demonstrate proven experience in end‑to‑end event management, including detailed planning, procurement, budgeting, safety processes, record keeping and delivery of community events and activations.
- Apply strong knowledge of community engagement and social development principles to design and deliver meaningful, inclusive activation and participation opportunities.
- Build and maintain effective partnerships with internal teams, community organisations, government agencies and stakeholders to achieve shared community development outcomes.
- Confidently prepare grant and funding applications by undertaking research and engaging with external funding providers to secure support for Council-led initiatives.
- Use well‑developed communication, interpersonal and organisational skills to engage effectively with staff, elected members and the broader community while supporting integrated planning and project delivery.
- Demonstrate proficiency in digital and administrative systems, including Microsoft Office, budgeting tools and records management systems, with an ability to maintain accurate documentation in accordance with Council requirements.
- Bring a self‑motivated, collaborative and community‑focused approach aligned with Council’s values, cultural standards and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Meet mandatory requirements, including holding a C Class Open Queensland Driver Licence and the ability to obtain a Blue Card, with desirable qualifications such as tertiary or vocational studies in community development, social sciences, business or event management, and/or an IAP2 Certificate in Engagement.
If you are successful in this position, you will receive:
- Salary $103,919.64 - $110,102.26 per annum (Level 6, Stream A)
- Nominally 72.5 hours per fortnight
- RDO’s in accordance with Council Policy
- 5 weeks annual leave @ 17.5% loading
- 15 days personal leave per annum
- Up to 14.5% super in accordance with Council Policy
