JOB SUMMARY
Providence Christian College is seeking an experienced and values-driven educational leader for the newly rebuilt executive role of Head of Secondary, responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of a growing Secondary School (from around 314 to approximately 600 students). As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will execute the College's strategic plan, empower a strengthened middle leadership team - including two brand-new Deputy Head positions - and foster a culture of educational excellence, deeply rooted in the College's Christian mission.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As Head of Secondary, you will provide executive leadership across the Secondary School, empowering middle leaders to deliver exceptional educational and pastoral outcomes, while maintaining the College's Christian character, acting as its public face, and reporting to the Board on Secondary matters.
 
Key Responsibilities include:

• Executive Leadership & Strategic Culture - Lead the College strategic plan and Secondary School Improvement Plan; report to the Board; identify and manage risk.
• Staff Leadership, Empowerment & Wellbeing - Build and empower a high-performing middle leadership team (Deputy Heads, Heads of Department, Year Level Coordinators) through delegation, coaching and accountability.
• Academic Excellence & Curriculum Compliance - Oversee reporting and compliance with SCSA and other government requirements; drive improvement in teaching, learning and timetabling.
• Student Wellbeing & Pastoral Care - Oversee pastoral care, behaviour development, student mental health, and child safety and mandatory reporting obligations.
• Operations & Community Engagement - Steward the Secondary budget and calendar with the Business Manager and Principal; oversee parent communication, alumni relations and enrolment support.
• Accountability - Report directly to the Principal and Deputy Principal; hold staff accountable to College policy and child-safety standards.

ABOUT YOU
Ideal Skills
Have:

• A genuine, deeply held Christian faith and active involvement in a church community
• A minimum of around 5 years' experience in a Deputy Head or equivalent senior secondary leadership role, ideally within a well-functioning, high-performing school
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in education (e.g., Bachelor of Education or equivalent)
• Current (or eligible for) registration with the Teacher Registration Board of WA
• Current WA Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance

Desirable:

• Postgraduate qualifications in educational leadership
• Demonstrated experience leading whole-of-school strategic or pedagogical change
• Experience operating within a distributed, deputy-supported leadership model

Ability to:

• Lead as a coach and vision-setter - empowering deputies and middle leaders rather than operating every function personally
• Champion a contemporary, research-backed approach to curriculum, teaching and learning that balances rigour with future-focused skills
• Build trust and psychological safety across diverse teams of educators, and manage effectively up, down and across the organisation
• Lead genuine change with sensitivity, bringing staff along the journey rather than creating division
