If you want front-row exposure to the disputes that actually shape the market, keep reading.
This is an opportunity to join a globally recognised litigation-only practice that is deliberately built differently: lean, elite, and unapologetically focused on winning complex disputes. The work is serious, the expectations are high, and the learning curve is steep (in the best possible way).
A highly regarded commercial litigation team is looking to add an Associate-level disputes lawyer to its Sydney-based practice on an initial temporary basis.
Why this role exists
This team is busy because it’s trusted with the disputes that matter most: high-value, high-risk, often cross-border matters where outcomes genuinely count. Growth has created space for a lawyer who wants real responsibility early, not years of watching from the sidelines.
What you’ll actually be doing
This is not your standard temporary assignment, you’ll be working on some of the most sophisticated disputes currently before the courts and tribunals, including:
- Complex commercial litigation and regulatory disputes
- Class actions and large-scale, multi-party proceedings
- High-value arbitration and cross-border litigation
- Strategic advisory work for major domestic and multinational clients
You’ll be involved end-to-end, from early strategy and pleadings through to hearings and resolution, with genuine exposure to decision-making, advocacy, and client interaction.
Who this is for This role will suit a lawyer who:
- Has 2+ years’ PQE in commercial litigation or dispute resolution
- Has strong academics and takes pride in precise, persuasive advocacy
- Is motivated by high-profile, intellectually demanding work
- Thrives in a fast-paced, high-performance environment
- Brings solid drafting, research, and courtroom experience
- Has (or wants) exposure to class actions or cross-border disputes
Why lawyers say yes to roles like this - Access to elite disputes work you won’t see in most firms at this level
- A litigation-only model that means depth, not dilution
- Early responsibility and steep development under exceptional litigators
- Exposure to international matters and global strategy
- Above top-of-market remuneration reflecting the calibre of the work
This is the kind of environment where strong lawyers accelerate quickly, and there is the real possibility of the initial contract extending or going permanent.
Curious? If you’re ambitious, commercially minded, and want to build a reputation as a serious disputes lawyer, this is worth exploring.
