Are you an experienced Maintenance Fitter who enjoys fault finding, solving complex mechanical problems and working with modern automated manufacturing equipment?
RLA Polymers is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Fitter to join our manufacturing team in Kilsyth. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a well-established Australian manufacturer where safety, teamwork and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything we do.
Working across a modern production facility, you'll be responsible for maintaining automated production equipment, responding to breakdowns, improving plant reliability and helping keep production operating safely and efficiently.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Responding quickly to equipment breakdowns and returning machinery safely to production
• Diagnosing faults across automated manufacturing equipment using PLC/HMI diagnostics
• Maintaining conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, mixers, bearings and mechanical drive systems
• Fault finding across pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• Completing preventative maintenance and planned shutdown work
• Identifying root causes of recurring equipment failures and implementing long-term solutions
• Assisting with equipment upgrades, installations and commissioning
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records using the CMMS system
• Working safely while following Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) and site safety procedures.

To be successful you will ideally have:

• Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter (Certificate III Engineering – Mechanical or equivalent)
• Minimum five years' experience within manufacturing or automated production environments
• Strong fault-finding ability on automated production machinery
• Experience with PLC/HMI-controlled equipment
• Excellent knowledge of:
  • Conveyors
  • Motors
  • Gearboxes
  • Bearings
  • Pneumatics
  • Hydraulics
  • Sensors
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and technical manuals
• A proactive approach to preventative maintenance and continuous improvement
• Strong commitment to workplace safety.

 Experience with any of the following will be highly advantageous:

• VSDs or servo drives
• Robotics or automated packaging equipment
• Welding or fabrication
• Predictive maintenance
• Powder, chemical or building products manufacturing
• Forklift, EWP, Confined Space or Working at Heights licences.
