Are you an experienced legal administrator, legal executive, junior lawyer, or official information specialist looking for a role where your work makes a real difference? Upper Hutt City Council is seeking an Information and Legal Assistant to join its Legal Services team on a permanent basis.
This is a unique opportunity to step into a broad and interesting role that combines official information work, legal administration and paralegal support within a busy in-house environment. Working alongside experienced legal professionals, you'll contribute directly to the effective operation of Council and the delivery of services to the Upper Hutt community.

Reporting to the General Counsel, this role offers a diverse workload, with key responsibilities including: managing and coordinating official information requests under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act (LGOIMA); administering requests under the Privacy Act; preparing and managing the issue of Council warrants; assisting with infringement-related prosecutions; supporting legislative compliance reporting; undertaking legal research; managing special projects; and providing general legal administrative support.

To be successful in this role, you'll be proactive, organised, professional and enjoy working as part of a close-knit team that takes pride in delivering a high-quality service. You'll also bring experience working in a legal, quasi-legal, official information or administrative environment and be comfortable managing competing priorities with minimal supervision.
You may be a legal executive, junior lawyer, experienced legal administrator, or someone with strong official information experience gained in local government, central government or another regulated environment.
