Mō te tūranga | About the role
In this role, you will manage investigations from initial assessment through to reporting, gathering and analysing evidence, engaging with a range of stakeholders, and preparing clear, high-quality documentation to support decision-making.
You will manage a caseload, contribute to hearing preparation, liaise with legal representatives and internal advisors, and ensure matters are progressed with fairness, rigour, and strong attention to detail within legislative and policy frameworks.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Proven experience as an Investigator, ideally within the public sector or structured regulatory environment
- Experience managing end-to-end investigations, including gathering evidence, interviewing, preparing reports, and supporting hearings
- Confidence working with complex, sensitive matters, exercising sound judgement, discretion, and professionalism throughout
- Ability to manage a caseload, prioritise effectively, and deliver to process, quality, and timeframe expectations
- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, evidence-based reports to a high standard
- Well-developed relationship skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
- Resilience, sound judgement, and a high level of personal integrity
- Backgrounds in education, law, regulatory compliance, investigations, or a related field would be highly valued

Salary range is $83,679–$98,446 per annum.
This role includes occasional travel across Aotearoa, planned we in advance as part of your caseload and hearing schedule. A clean New Zealand driver’s licence is required.
