Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About the role
This is a varied and hands-on role. You’ll provide timely, pragmatic legal advice across a wide range of activities, supporting both day-to-day matters and broader organisational initiatives. Your work will include:
- Preparing, reviewing and negotiating contracts and other legal documentation.
- Advising on a range of legislation, regulatory matters and issues relevant to organisational decision-making.
- Building effective relationships across the organisation to deliver practical, solutions-focused advice.
- Contributing to governance, risk, and compliance activities, including official information and privacy processes.
- Representing the organisation in hearings, courts, or tribunals (where appropriate).
Ko koe tēnei | About you You will be a motivated and pragmatic solicitor who is resourceful, eager to learn, and able to work both autonomously and as part of a team. In addition, to succeed in this role, you will bring:
- A Bachelor of Laws and a current practising certificate (or eligibility to obtain one).
- A minimum of two years’ post-qualification experience gained either in-house or in a law firm environment.
- Exceptional research and analytical skills, and sound judgement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including technical drafting skills).
- The ability to provide timely, accurate, and clear advice to a wide range of stakeholders.
- A strong service ethos and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across the organisation.
- The ability to operate within a Te Tiriti-based environment.
A background in administrative law, property law, commercial law, contract or resource management will be viewed favourably.
