Intermediate Accountant | Business Services & Advisory
Salary: $80,000–$90,000 + superannuation
Location: Melbourne CBD
Work style: Permanent full-time | One to two WFH days per week after probation
Why This Role
Develop your technical capability through work on substantial private business groups, with experienced accountants and Partners available to guide you.
This opportunity suits an Intermediate Accountant with around three years’ Australian public practice experience who wants to strengthen their compliance foundations and understand more complex client structures.
Alongside preparing accounts and tax returns, there is scope to research tax questions, discuss findings with senior colleagues and contribute to advisory work. Previous advisory experience is not essential; curiosity, sound fundamentals and a willingness to ask questions matter.
An individual career plan helps connect your development goals with practical steps towards greater responsibility and Senior Accountant level.
The Role
Support accounting, taxation and business services delivery across private clients and complex multi-entity groups.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing financial statements, income tax returns and detailed workpapers
- Working across individuals, companies, trusts and connected business entities
- Preparing BAS and supporting payroll tax and land tax matters where required
- Reconciling accounts and inter-entity balances
- Researching tax issues and assisting Managers and Partners with draft advice
- Supporting tax planning and identifying matters for senior review
- Communicating with clients to gather information and resolve queries
- Liaising with the ATO and state revenue authorities
- Managing assigned deadlines and keeping colleagues informed of progress
- Using Xero, Xero Practice Manager and FYI Docs across client work and workflow

The portfolio includes clients with turnover exceeding $100 million, with exposure across construction, property development, healthcare and hospitality. Connected entities and broader family interests create opportunities to deepen understanding of client affairs.
Services span accounting, taxation and business advisory, alongside wealth and finance offerings. Modern cloud systems and workflow automation support collaboration and consistent delivery.
