Senior Accountant | SMSF
Salary: $85,000–$105,000 + superannuation
Location: Brisbane CBD
Work style: Permanent full-time | Hybrid with two WFH days per week

The Role
Responsibilities include:

• Reviewing SMSF financial statements, annual returns and supporting compliance work
• Managing compliance obligations and deadlines across allocated funds
• Reviewing work prepared by the Philippines-based SMSF accounting team
• Training and mentoring offshore accountants in BGL Simple Fund 360, technical matters and quality standards
• Liaising with auditors and resolving audit queries
• Communicating directly with clients to clarify queries and gather information
• Coordinating work and communication between offshore accountants and senior internal stakeholders
• Attending to BAS and related compliance matters where required
• Supporting superannuation tax planning and compliance-related advice
• Contributing to team training and improvements in systems, processes and workflow

About Our Client
Our client is a large Queensland accounting and advisory firm with 14 Partners and almost 200 staff across three offices.

The specialist SMSF team sits within a broader practice offering business advisory, taxation, audit, international advisory, insolvency, technology, finance, lending and wealth management services.

Local SMSF leaders work alongside a Philippines-based accounting team. BGL Simple Fund 360 is central to delivery, making practical experience with the platform essential for reviewing work and training colleagues.

Brisbane staff work from a modern Eagle Street office with end-of-trip facilities.

What You’ll Bring

• At least four years of Australian SMSF accounting experience
• Senior-level capability across SMSF tax and compliance
• Practical experience with BGL Simple Fund 360, which is essential
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline
• Experience reviewing SMSF financial statements and annual returns
• Confidence guiding colleagues and resolving technical questions
• Willingness to manage, review and support the offshore team’s work
• Clear communication with clients, auditors and internal stakeholders
• Attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
