Intermediate Accountant | Business Services
Salary: $75,000–$85,000 + superannuation
Location: Brisbane CBD
Work style: Permanent full-time | Hybrid with two WFH days per week

The Role
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, companies and trusts
- Completing BAS, IAS and related compliance obligations
- Assisting with tax strategies and tax planning documents for client groups
- Contributing to tax advice and business advisory projects
- Communicating with clients to clarify queries and gather information
- Attending client meetings as required
- Liaising with the ATO on client and compliance matters
- Managing assigned work with oversight, communicating progress and raising issues early
- Sharing knowledge and helping junior colleagues with processes and software
- Assisting with fee preparation under Manager guidance
About Our Client Our client is a large Queensland accounting and advisory firm with 14 Partners and almost 200 staff across three offices.
The Business Services division supports privately owned businesses, individuals, family groups and broader client structures. The wider practice offers specialist services across taxation, audit, international advisory, insolvency, SMSF, technology, finance, lending and wealth management.
Brisbane staff work from a modern Eagle Street office with end-of-trip facilities. Systems include Xero, Business Fitness and APS, with a transition to KloudConnect underway.
What You’ll Bring - At least one year of Australian public practice experience, with a foundation in business services
- A relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics or a related discipline
- CA or CPA studies underway or intended
- Knowledge of Australian tax legislation
- Experience preparing financial statements and income tax returns
- Exposure to BAS, IAS and ATO matters
- Strong Excel skills and experience with Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks or similar
- Clear communication, attention to detail and a proactive approach to learning
- The ability to manage deadlines with guidance and keep colleagues informed
- A collaborative approach and willingness to share knowledge
