Senior Accountant | Business Services
Salary: $85,000–$105,000 + superannuation
Location: Brisbane CBD
Work style: Permanent full-time | Hybrid with two WFH days per week

The position combines hands-on preparation, direct client contact and tax planning under experienced guidance. Managers and senior colleagues provide support as you take responsibility for delivery and help junior accountants with technical questions.
A documented career framework makes expectations at each level visible. Regular feedback and development conversations help identify the skills and experience needed to progress towards Supervisor and Manager responsibilities.
We will also consider strong Intermediate Accountants ready to step up.
The Role
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts and superannuation funds
- Completing BAS, IAS and other quarterly and annual compliance obligations
- Conducting tax planning and interim work under guidance
- Reconciling client accounting files across platforms such as Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks
- Communicating directly with clients to resolve queries and gather information
- Attending client meetings as required and preparing correspondence and updates
- Liaising with the ATO on client and compliance matters
- Supporting junior accountants with technical queries and task prioritisation
- Managing personal workflow, deadlines and job budgets
- Assisting with fee preparation and suggesting practical process improvements
About Our Client Our client is a large Queensland accounting and advisory firm with 14 Partners and almost 200 staff across three offices.
The Business Services division supports privately owned businesses, individuals, family groups and broader client structures. Teams sit within a full-service practice spanning taxation, business advisory, audit, international advisory, insolvency, SMSF, technology, finance, lending and wealth management.
Brisbane staff work from a modern Eagle Street office with end-of-trip facilities. Systems include Xero, Business Fitness and APS, with a transition to KloudConnect underway.
What You’ll Bring - At least three years of Australian public practice experience in business services
- Senior Accountant capability, or strong Intermediate experience with readiness to step up
- A relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics or a related discipline
- CA or CPA completed, underway or intended
- Sound knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and tax legislation
- Experience preparing financial statements, tax returns, BAS and IAS
- Strong Excel skills and confidence using accounting software
- Clear communication and a proactive approach to client service
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
- Willingness to share knowledge and support junior colleagues
