A Senior Accountant provides day-to-day guidance, while the Partner actively mentors and supervises staff. Regular communication and strong support provide opportunities to ask questions, discuss technical issues and keep developing.
The position combines hands-on tax and accounting preparation with research, client communication and advisory support. Exposure to business owners, medical professionals and property investors will help develop your understanding of the commercial decisions behind compliance work.
The Role
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing income tax returns for individuals, sole traders, companies, trusts and SMSFs
- Preparing financial statements and detailed supporting workpapers
- Preparing BAS and assisting with payroll tax and land tax matters where required
- Researching tax issues and supporting advice prepared by senior team members
- Liaising with clients, the ATO and other professionals
- Responding to client queries and following up outstanding information
- Assisting with tax planning, structuring and broader advisory work
- Managing assigned work and deadlines using Xero, Excel and other accounting systems
About Our Client Our client is a growing boutique accounting and advisory firm supporting business owners, medical professionals, property investors and private clients.
Services span tax compliance, business advisory, structuring, cash flow support, SMSFs and property-related matters. Practical advice, responsiveness and technical quality underpin the approach to client service.
The leadership team brings experience across Big 4 tax, international tax, mergers and acquisitions, strategy consulting and private client advisory. That breadth provides valuable context for accountants developing their technical knowledge and commercial judgement.
Daily check-ins, shared workflow lists and regular team conversations support collaboration across the fully remote team.
What You’ll Bring - Three to four years of Australian public practice accounting experience
- An accounting degree from an Australian institution
- CA or CPA studies underway
- Sound Australian tax and accounting knowledge
- Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns across multiple entity types
- Good working knowledge of Xero and Excel
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Organisation, attention to detail and confidence managing deadlines remotely
- A proactive approach to learning, solving problems and seeking guidance
MYOB AE experience will be useful but is not essential.
Applicants must currently reside in Australia and hold Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
