Intermediate Accountant | Business Services
Salary: $75,000 to $85,000 + superannuation

This is an opportunity for an Intermediate Accountant to join the Business Services division of a prominent mid-tier advisory and accounting firm in Brisbane CBD.
The role will suit someone who has built a foundation in Australian public practice and is ready for more responsibility, greater client exposure, and clearer career development. You will prepare financial statements, tax returns, BAS, IAS and compliance work, while also contributing to tax planning and advisory support.
You will not be expected to operate without support. You will manage your own workflow with oversight, work closely with experienced accountants, Managers and Partners, and continue to build confidence in client communication, technical delivery and commercial judgement.
This is a strong next step for an accountant who wants to progress beyond basic processing and build toward Senior Accountant level inside a structured, well-supported professional services environment.

The Role
As an Intermediate Accountant in the Business Services team, you will help deliver timely, accurate accounting and tax work for internal and external stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, companies and trusts
- Completing BAS, IAS and other compliance obligations
- Assisting with tax strategies and tax planning documents for client groups
- Contributing to tax advice and business advisory projects
- Liaising with the ATO regarding client matters and compliance issues
- Preparing client communications regarding queries and information gathering
- Attending meetings where needed to support relationship management
- Managing your own workflow with oversight from senior team members
- Communicating progress and flagging issues early to support workflow efficiency
- Assisting with fee preparation under Manager direction
- Training junior team members in accounting processes, software use and task responsibilities
- Sharing knowledge and assisting peers with technical queries and task execution
- Maintaining technical knowledge through training, webinars and independent research
This role gives you the opportunity to keep building technical capability while gradually taking on more client contact, workflow responsibility and advisory support.
What You'll Bring - Australian public practice experience in business services
- Current Intermediate Accountant level experience
- Relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics or similar
- CA or CPA underway or intended
- Knowledge of Australian tax legislation
- Experience preparing financial statements and income tax returns
- Exposure to BAS, IAS and ATO compliance matters
- Experience with accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks or similar
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and pride in accurate work
- Ability to manage workflow, deadlines and competing priorities with oversight
- Client-focused and proactive approach to service delivery
- Technically curious, adaptable and willing to keep developing
- Collaborative working style and willingness to support junior team members
