Associate Client Director | Compliance
Salary: $140,000 to $165,000 package + quarterly bonuses | OTE $200,000+
Location: Fully remote across QLD, NSW, VIC or ACT
Work style: Fully remote | Monthly Brisbane travel required
Why This Role
This is a strong opportunity for an experienced public practice accountant to step into a senior client-facing role with a specialist accounting and advisory firm in active growth mode.
After an initial onboarding period in Brisbane, expected to run for a few weeks, you will only be required to travel to Brisbane once per month.
As Associate Client Director, you will manage your own portfolio of compliance clients across the building and construction sector, while supporting team quality, workflow, client satisfaction and portfolio growth.
This role sits between the junior Manager and the senior Manager level. It will suit someone who already has direct client relationship experience and wants a clearer pathway into broader leadership, commercial accountability and long-term progression.
The OTE structure is designed to reward portfolio performance, with $200,000+ package potential based on $1m of revenue, and further upside where revenue grows beyond that.
About Our Client
Our client is a fast-growing specialist accounting and advisory firm focused on the building and construction industry.
The firm works with builders, contractors, manufacturers and professional service providers across the construction ecosystem, providing accounting, tax, QBCC Minimum Financial Requirements compliance, financial control, advisory and structuring support.
The Compliance Division is a core part of the business and continues to grow. This is an environment that will suit someone who wants to build specialist expertise, lead client relationships and operate in a firm with a clear niche rather than a generalist portfolio.
The Role
As Associate Client Director, you will take ownership of client relationships and play a key role in service delivery, team quality and portfolio performance.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a portfolio of compliance clients across the building and construction sector
- Acting as the key relationship contact for clients
- Monitoring client satisfaction, retention and service quality
- Preparing quarterly budgets for annual tax work and target completion dates
- Monitoring work progress against budget and reporting actual results monthly
- Ensuring periodical work is completed accurately and on time
- Reviewing client profitability and making recommendations around pricing and resourcing
- Supporting client retention and identifying clients at risk
- Maintaining quality standards across work sent to clients
- Conducting spot checks and audits of team output
- Supporting team development through coaching, training and quarterly development planning
- Contributing to business development through client reviews, referrals, LinkedIn, networking and growth activity
This role is not a narrow compliance position. It combines client ownership, commercial awareness, quality control, leadership and growth.
What You'll Bring - 7+ years of Australian public practice accounting experience
- CA or CPA qualification
- Previous Manager experience or equivalent client-facing leadership experience
- Direct client relationship responsibility
- Strong technical tax and compliance skills
- Ability to manage competing deadlines across multiple clients
- Advanced Xero and Xero Practice Manager experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Commercial awareness and accountability
- Team-oriented approach with clear leadership potential
- Willingness to develop or deepen QBCC MFR knowledge
- Ability to work effectively in a fully remote role
Experience with building, construction, property or related industries will be highly regarded, but is not essential.
Regional candidates will be considered where they are based close to an airport and can reasonably attend monthly travel to Brisbane.
What's On Offer - $140,000 to $165,000 package
- Quarterly bonuses based on revenue
- OTE $200,000+ package potential
- Further earning upside as portfolio revenue grows
- Fully remote role after initial Brisbane onboarding
- Open to candidates across QLD, NSW, VIC and ACT
- Monthly Brisbane travel
- Clear development pathway toward Client Director
- Potential long-term partner track
- Portfolio ownership across a specialist client base
- Exposure to building and construction clients
- Opportunity to build QBCC MFR compliance expertise
- Business development and client growth involvement
