Intermediate Accountant
Salary: $80,000 to $95,000 + superannuation
Location: Fully remote within Australia

You will work across tax, compliance, financial statements, BAS, research and client support, with the opportunity to keep building toward more senior business services and advisory responsibilities over time.

About Our Client
Our client is a boutique accounting and advisory firm supporting business owners, medical professionals, property investors and private clients.
The firm provides tax compliance, business advisory, structuring, cash flow support, wealth and investment advisory, SMSF and property-related advice.
The firm operates fully remotely and places strong emphasis on responsiveness, technical quality and practical advice. The team communicates regularly and works closely together despite being remote.
This is a good environment for an accountant who wants the flexibility of remote work without being isolated from mentoring, workflow and client context.
The Role
As an Intermediate Accountant, you will work across a mix of tax, accounting and business services matters.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing income tax returns for individuals, sole traders, companies, trusts and SMSFs
- Preparing financial statements and detailed workpapers
- Preparing BAS and related compliance work
- Supporting state tax matters such as payroll tax and land tax where required
- Researching tax issues and assisting with advice for senior team members
- Liaising with the ATO, clients and other professionals
- Working with Xero, Excel and other accounting systems
- Supporting client queries and helping maintain strong service standards
- Building capability across tax planning, structuring and advisory support work
This role offers a balance of compliance, technical development and client exposure, with scope to continue building toward Senior Accountant level.
What You'll Bring - 3 to 4 years of experience in an Australian public practice accounting firm
- Accounting degree from an Australian institution
- CA or CPA underway
- Strong technical foundations across tax and accounting compliance
- Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns for multiple entity types
- Good working knowledge of Xero and Excel
- MYOB AE experience will be useful but is not essential
- Strong communication skills and a professional approach with clients
- Ability to manage workflow and deadlines in a remote environment
- Proactive, organised and willing to keep developing
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency
