Bookkeeping Manager
Salary: $110,000 to $115,000 + superannuation | OTE $200,000+ package
Location: Brisbane, QLD
Work style: Hybrid | 3 days in the office and 2 days WFH
Why This Role
This is an opportunity for an experienced Bookkeeping Manager or Senior Bookkeeper to step into a genuine leadership role with a fast-growing specialist accounting and advisory firm.
This is not a production-focused bookkeeping position. While you may occasionally need to step in and assist with technical work, your primary focus will be managing client relationships, overseeing quality, supporting workflow and leading an offshore bookkeeping team.
The role will suit someone who is confident managing clients, training bookkeepers, reviewing work and maintaining strong delivery standards across a portfolio.
The OTE structure can take the total package beyond $200,000.
About Our Client
Our client is a specialist accounting and advisory firm focused on the building and construction sector.
The firm works with builders, contractors, manufacturers and related businesses, providing accounting, tax, advisory, bookkeeping and financial control support.
The bookkeeping division is built around Xero, cloud-first processes and a strong offshore delivery model. This is a good fit for someone who wants to move beyond hands-on bookkeeping production into a management role with client ownership, team leadership, and quality-control responsibility.
The Role
As Bookkeeping Manager, you will manage a portfolio of bookkeeping clients and lead an offshore team of up to 5 staff.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, coaching and mentoring offshore bookkeeping staff
- Managing workflow, deadlines and resource allocation
- Acting as the primary contact for assigned clients
- Maintaining strong client relationships and handling escalations
- Reviewing bookkeeping work for accuracy, completeness and quality
- Overseeing bank reconciliations, payroll, BAS, IAS, PAYGW, PAYGI, TPAR and superannuation obligations
- Supporting software integrations, conversions and transitions
- Training staff on systems, payroll, awards and ATO reporting requirements
- Liaising with the ATO on payment plans, penalty remissions and compliance matters
- Working with the Client Director on team performance, development plans and service standards
This role is designed for someone who can manage people, clients, and quality simultaneously.
What You'll Bring - 6+ years of bookkeeping experience
- Public practice experience
- Xero Advisor Certification
- Xero Payroll Certification
- Experience supervising at least 2 staff, including delegation and review
- Advanced Xero skills
- Intermediate to advanced MYOB, QuickBooks, Dext or similar software experience
- Strong understanding of payroll, BAS, IAS, reconciliations and statutory reporting
- Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience training, coaching or mentoring bookkeeping staff
- A practical, organised and client-focused approach
Experience with building, construction or trade-based clients will be highly regarded, but is not essential.
What's On Offer - $110,000 to $115,000 + superannuation
- OTE structure with $200,000+ package potential
- Hybrid working after settling in
- True management role, not a production-only bookkeeping position
- Leadership of an offshore bookkeeping team

- Specialist construction-sector client base
- Xero and cloud-first systems
- Support from a Client Director and Client Service Officer
- Opportunity to build a long-term leadership role within a growing specialist firm
