Senior Accountant | Advisory
Salary: $100,000 - $115,000 + superannuation
Location: Brisbane, QLD
Work style: Hybrid | 3 days in the office and 2 days WFH
Why This Role
This is an opportunity for a Senior Accountant to move into a more advisory-focused role with a specialist accounting and advisory firm.
You will work closely with Client Directors to support growth-focused building and construction businesses, helping translate financial data into clear commercial insight.
This role goes beyond tax compliance and month-end processing. You will be involved in management reporting, 3-way forecasting, cash flow modelling, margin analysis, scenario planning, and client-facing advisory work.
About Our Client
Our client is a fast-growing specialist accounting and advisory firm with a clear focus on the building and construction sector.
The firm works with builders, contractors, manufacturers and professional service providers, helping them improve reporting, strengthen cash flow, understand margins and make better business decisions.
The Advisory Division is a growing part of the business and provides CFO-style support to clients through disciplined reporting, structured accountability and practical commercial advice.
This is a strong environment for an accountant who wants to build advisory capability within a specialist niche rather than remain in a purely compliance-focused role.
The Role
As a Senior Accountant in the Advisory Division, you will support Client Directors across a portfolio of building and construction clients.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing management reports with meaningful commentary and insights
- Translating financial results into clear, practical advice for clients
- Supporting 3-way forecasting, budgeting and cashflow modelling
- Identifying margin pressure, cashflow risks and growth opportunities
- Assisting with bank reporting, lending submissions and capital planning
- Participating in client meetings and explaining financial performance in plain language
- Supporting pricing reviews, cost analysis and systems improvement projects
- Working with Client Directors and offshore support staff to deliver timely reporting
- Helping improve reporting quality, workflow efficiency and commercial relevance
This role is suited to someone who wants to become a trusted commercial contributor, not just a technical accounting resource.
What You'll Bring - 3+ years of experience in business services, management accounting or commercial finance
- Strong accounting foundations and commercial curiosity
- Experience preparing management reports with useful commentary
- Working knowledge of budgeting, forecasting or cashflow reporting
- Confidence explaining financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- Strong Xero skills and good Excel capability
- High attention to detail and strong communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple client needs and competing deadlines
- Initiative, ownership and a willingness to keep developing
- Experience using AI or digital tools in a professional setting
Experience with building, construction, manufacturing or project-based businesses will be highly regarded, but is not essential.
What's On Offer - $100,000 - $115,000 + superannuation
- Hybrid work after settling in
- Clear pathway toward more senior advisory responsibility
- Exposure to growth-focused building and construction clients
- 3-way forecasting, cashflow modelling and commercial reporting work
- Client-facing advisory exposure
- Support from experienced Client Directors
- Modern systems, Xero, Excel and digital tools
- Opportunity to move beyond traditional compliance accounting
- Specialist firm with a clear niche and strong growth focus
