Client Director | Compliance
Salary: $160,000 - $220,000 + superannuation + OTE
Location: Brisbane
Work style: Hybrid | 3 days in the office and 2 days WFH

As Client Director, you will lead a portfolio of compliance clients in the building and construction sector, acting as a trusted adviser on tax strategy, QBCC Minimum Financial Requirements compliance, structuring, asset protection, and financial performance.
This role is suited to a commercially minded senior accounting professional who wants more than a traditional compliance leadership role. You will own client relationships, lead a team, drive portfolio performance and contribute to the growth of a specialist firm in active scale-up mode.

Our client is a specialist accounting and advisory firm focused on the building and construction industry.
The firm works with builders, contractors, manufacturers and professional service providers across the construction ecosystem, providing accounting, tax, QBCC MFR compliance, financial control, bookkeeping, job costing, advisory and structuring support.
The firm has a strong specialist reputation and has continued to grow through clear market positioning, technical depth and practical industry knowledge.
The Compliance Division is a core part of the business, built around deep expertise in QBCC MFR compliance and specialist tax support for growing building and construction businesses.
The Role
As Client Director, you will own a portfolio of compliance clients and be responsible for the quality, retention, satisfaction, and commercial performance of that portfolio.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a portfolio of building and construction clients
- Acting as the primary relationship holder for assigned clients
- Leading tax planning, structuring and asset protection advice
- Providing QBCC MFR compliance advice and reporting support
- Reviewing and approving compliance work before it reaches clients
- Monitoring statutory deadlines, ATO lodgements and client obligations
- Supervising Associate Client Directors and Senior Accountants
- Coaching team members through 1:1s and career development reviews
- Converting new client enquiries and referrals into active engagements
- Identifying opportunities to deepen existing client relationships
- Monitoring portfolio profitability, pricing and client risk
- Contributing to marketing and business development activity
This is a role for someone who can combine technical tax strength with client leadership, commercial judgement and team oversight.
What You'll Bring - CA or CPA qualification
- 10+ years of public practice accounting experience
- Direct client portfolio ownership experience
- Strong technical tax skills across income tax, CGT, FBT and GST
- Confidence managing sophisticated client relationships
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lead, coach and develop a team
- Commercial judgement and an advisory mindset
- Experience with Xero, XPM, Karbon or similar practice management systems
- Confidence using AI and digital tools in a professional setting
- Ability to convert leads into clients, or a strong willingness to be trained in this process
Experience in building, construction, property, or related industries will be highly regarded, but is not essential.
