Our client is a boutique accounting and advisory firm located in Melbourne’s CBD.
  
The firm works with complex local and international client groups across accounting, tax, business advisory, wealth and lending-related matters. They are known for quality over volume, direct Partner involvement and a strong focus on technically sound, commercially relevant advice.
  
With continued growth and expanding client engagements, the firm is seeking an experienced Manager to take ownership of a client portfolio and play a key role in team leadership, workflow and client delivery.
  
The Role
As Manager, you will manage a portfolio of clients, oversee the completion of compliance engagements and work closely with the Partners on workflow, advisory and client matters.
  
Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing and taking accountability for an established client portfolio
• Reviewing financial statements, tax returns and compliance work
• Overseeing the completion of tax and business services engagements
• Liaising directly with clients and acting as a key relationship contact
• Providing tax and business advisory support to clients
• Undertaking technical research across complex tax and accounting matters
• Working closely with Partners on workflow management and client priorities
• Mentoring, training and developing junior team members
• Delegating and reviewing work across local and offshore team members
• Managing deadlines, budgets and client expectations
• Contributing to advisory and strategic client discussions
• Identifying opportunities to add value across broader firm services

This is not a workflow-only management position. It is a client-facing leadership role requiring technical strength, commercial judgement and the ability to support both clients and staff.
  
What You’ll Bring

• CA or CPA qualification
• Strong Australian public practice experience in business services and tax
• Demonstrated experience managing a client portfolio
• Strong review capability across financial statements, tax returns and compliance work
• Confidence liaising directly with clients
• Ability to undertake technical research and apply findings practically
• Experience mentoring, training or developing junior accountants
• Strong workflow, deadline and client expectation management skills
• Commercial judgement and clear communication skills
• Ability to work closely with Partners on client and firm priorities
