Salary: $85,000 - $120,000 + superannuation

This is an opportunity for an Intermediate or Senior Accountant to join a small, established regional accounting firm with offices in Dalby and Toowoomba.
The role will suit someone who wants close Partner access, genuine client contact and the opportunity to work across a practical mix of compliance, tax planning and business advisory support.
This is not a large corporate environment. You will work closely with the firm's Partners, build strong relationships with long-standing clients and play an important role in supporting junior staff as the firm continues to grow.
For the right person, there is also a genuine long-term progression opportunity, with scope to move into a broader leadership role over time.

Our client is a regional accounting and taxation firm supporting individuals, primary producers, small businesses and private clients across Dalby, Toowoomba and the surrounding areas.
The firm provides practical accounting, compliance, taxation, BAS, bookkeeping, business advisory, SMSF and succession planning support.
The client base includes a strong rural and primary production presence, along with local businesses across trades, professional services, hospitality, retail and businesses servicing the mining sector.

The Role
As an Intermediate or Senior Accountant, you will work directly with the Partners across compliance, tax and client support work.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, individuals and SMSFs
- Preparing BAS, tax planning work and related compliance matters
- Working with rural clients, primary producers, local businesses and private clients
- Supporting clients with practical taxation and business advice
- Liaising with the ATO and other relevant bodies on behalf of clients
- Assisting with SMSF compliance work, where required
- Helping train and support junior staff
- Reviewing work prepared by junior staff or bookkeepers, depending on experience
- Working closely with the Partners on client matters and workflow priorities
- Supporting the continued development of firm processes as the practice grows
For Intermediate-level candidates, the focus will be on building technical confidence, strengthening client communication and developing toward a more senior role.
For Senior-level candidates, there will be greater scope for review work, client ownership, junior staff support and future leadership progression.
What You'll Bring - Australian public practice accounting experience
- Ideally 2-5+ years of experience, depending on level
- Degree qualified in Accounting, Business, Commerce or a related field
- CA or CPA completed, underway or intended
- Strong technical foundations across tax, compliance and business services
- Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns across multiple entity types
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a broad client base
- A practical, down-to-earth approach to client service
- Willingness to support and train junior staff
- Strong attention to detail and accountability
- Experience with Xero will be highly regarded
- Experience with Handisoft or SMSF work will also be useful, but is not essential
This role will particularly suit someone who can communicate well with rural, regional and long-standing clients, including business owners who value clear advice and responsive service.
