Senior Accountant / Supervisor
Salary: $90,000 - $115,000 + superannuation
Location: Petrie Terrace, Brisbane
Work style: Flexible start and finish times from day one | Hybrid available after probation

This is an opportunity for an experienced public practice accountant to join a growing Brisbane firm with a young, social and collaborative team culture.
 
The role can be shaped around either a strong Senior Accountant or someone ready to operate at the Supervisor level.
 
For a Senior Accountant, the focus will be on technical work, learning the firm's processes and gradually increasing client communication. At the supervisor level, the role becomes broader, with more involvement in client contact, reviewing junior work, mentoring and acting as a bridge between senior accountants and managers.
This will suit someone who wants a clear progression pathway, modern systems, diverse client exposure and the opportunity to build toward management without being placed into a rigid or overly corporate environment.
 
About Our Client
Our client is a well-established Brisbane accounting and advisory firm based in Petrie Terrace.
 
The firm has a large team across accounting, finance and digital marketing, with an accounting division of approximately 40 people. The team is relatively young and vibrant, with an open-plan office, strong internal collaboration and a social culture.
 
The client base is varied across industries, with notable exposure to construction and trade-based businesses. The firm does not specialise in one narrow sector, giving accountants broader experience across different client types and technical issues.
 
The business is Xero-based and uses modern systems including Xero Practice Manager, Active Workpapers, SharePoint, FYI Docs and Dashboard Insights.
 
The Role
Depending on your experience level, you will work as either a Senior Accountant or Supervisor within one of the firm's accounting teams, reporting through to a Manager.
 
Your responsibilities may include:

• Preparing financial statements and tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts and partnerships
• Preparing budgets and cashflows
• Assisting clients with value-add services and broader business advice
• Reviewing work prepared by junior accountants
• Mentoring, training and supporting junior team members
• Managing client communication as your role develops
• Liaising with the ATO and other regulatory bodies
• Supporting managers with workflow, client matters and team delivery
• Contributing to a positive, progressive and solutions-focused team environment

For Senior Accountants, the firm offers a gradual transition into more client-facing work based on your comfort level and career goals.
 
For Supervisors, the role includes more active involvement in reviewing junior work, client communication and early people management.
 
What You'll Bring

• 4-5+ years of experience in Australian public practice accounting
• CA or CPA completed, or close to completion
• Strong technical capability across accounting, tax and business services
• Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns across multiple entity types
• Exposure to client communication and complex client work
• Some experience mentoring junior staff or reviewing work
• Strong attention to detail and a quality-focused approach
• Clear communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
• Experience with Xero Practice Manager will be viewed favourably

For Supervisor-level candidates, prior experience reviewing junior work, managing client communication and supporting team workflow will be particularly valuable.
