About the Position: Whilst not exhaustive, the Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for:
Preparation of Income Tax Returns for Individuals, Partnerships, Companies and Trusts
Preparation of Financial Statements for the same
Review of the above plus BAS and IASs for junior and offshore staff members
Review of SMSF Financial Statements and handle auditor queries for same
Exposure to a variety of taxation matters including GST, CGT, FBT, Division 7A etc
Collaborate on Tax Planning and other ad hoc consulting and advisory engagements
Liaising with clients and external agencies
Provide ad hoc accounting, taxation and bookkeeping support to clients
The Ideal Candidate:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field (mandatory)
Professional certifications: CA, CPA, or CTA (desirable)
Prior experience in a client-facing public practice role
Minimum of 4 years experience in preparing tax returns, financial statements, complex accounting tasks, financial analysis, and management reporting.
In-depth knowledge of Australian accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements.
Experience in liaising with government body organisations such as the ATO.
Ability to guide tax planning and strategies to optimise financial outcomes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Leadership qualities, including the ability to supervise and mentor junior staff when needed
Xero, Xero Tax and XPM Practice Management Software is desirable
Excel & Outlook programs
